UNSC - United Nations Security Council
The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is an organ of the United Nations that is responsible for preserving global peace and global security. However, the structure of the UNSC is based on the outcome of WWII, rather than on the current global order in terms of superpowers. Considering that, The UNSC has 15 members, which include 5 Permanent Members – China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States – as well as 10 Non-Permanent Members who are elected for a two-year term, but the rotation of non-permanent members occurs every year in a way that each year, 5 non-permanent members begin their two-year term, while the other five non-permanent members complete their two-year term. Moreover, the regional combination of the UNSC includes 3 members from Africa, 3 members from Asia-Pacific, 2 members from Eastern Europe, 2 members from Latin America and the Caribbean, and 2 from Western Europe and other states, so even the regional combination of the UNSC does not reflect the current global order (For full explanation see Section D1.2). Importantly, contrary to the United Nations General Assembly, whose decisions are not binding, the UNSC is the only UN organ that has the authority to get resolutions that are binding on all member states, but the Veto-Right usually leads to useless resolutions in the UNSC because, in too many cases, one of the permanent members of the UNSC uses its Veto-Right (see United Nations: Rubber Stamp?). Worse, since the start of the second term of President Trump, the USA as a permanent member of the UNSC too many times to count violated the UN charter and International Law, such as in the cases of Iran, Venezuela, and Cuba, and even with the objectives to make Canada and Greenland as Colonies of the USA, regardless of the complicity of the USA with the Israeli genocide in Gaza and the ethnic cleasings in the West Bank and South Lebanon. Hence, there is an urgent need to reform the UNSC, as I discussed in Section D1.2 and The Urgent Need to Reform the UNSC: Live or Die. Importantly, the UN and the UNSC should suspend UN members that violate the UN charter and International Law, especially in cases of Genocide, significant War-Crimes, ethnic cleasings, starvation and such, including suspension of the status of Permanent Member of the UNSC when significant violations are carried out, as in the case of the USA. Without taking these measures, the UNSC has become a meaningless body that fails to keep the world from falling into global and regional crises because every dictator worldwide can carry out Genocide, War-Crimes, ethnic cleasings, and starvation without the fear that the international community will impose a ban on its country. Moreover, doubtful if the USA is the right location for the headquarters of the UN, because too many times to count, the USA has prevented entry visas for UN diplomats or for leaders from non-USA allies. Therefore, the headquarters of the UN should relocate to a neutral country or responsible country to allow the functioning of the UN without fear and geopolitical blackmail.
