A pogrom is a violent riot incited with the aim of massacring or expelling an ethnic or religious group under the open eyes of formal authorities (e.g., government, police, army) without any trying to stop it or to punish those who were involved in the pogrom, such as what happened in Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass, a pogrom that was against Jews carried out by the Nazis in 1938. During the Kristallnacht Pogrom, Jewish homes, hospitals, schools and synagogues were ransacked as attackers demolished buildings with sledgehammers, still, before the BIG Pogrom of Kristallnacht, the Nazis years earlier, carried out Mini Pogroms against Jews in Germany, which clearly signal what is going to come later.
The current wave of Pogroms by Jewish Settlers against Palestinian villages under the open eyes of Israeli authorities (e.g., the Israeli government, the Israeli army and the Israeli police) without any trying to stop these Pogroms or punish the rioters or give compensation to Palestinians or even denounce these crimes against Palestinians, gives the same clear indication as in the years of 1930-1938 for what is going to be next under the Far-Right Israeli Government that de-facto encourages Ethnic cleansing and Pogroms.
If we look at Israel today, then even those who oppose the Far-Right Israeli Government, don’t act in a significant way against these Pogroms. Only the International Community could stop the Pogroms against Palestinians and what is going to happen in Israel further under the dangerous Far-Right Israeli government. Those in the International Community who care for Israel and for the stability of the Middle East should stop at once these Pogroms, regardless of the moral obligation to stop them. Importantly, the USA and the EU used to impose sanctions against governments that have done minor things compared to what happened today in Israel. Thus, paradoxically, imposing sanctions against Israel to change the dangerous direction will benefit Israel, while keeping ‘not punishing’ will harm Israel. Therefore, the USA and the EU should SAVE Israel by imposing sanctions against the dangerous Far-Right Israeli government. Pogroms against Palestinians should stop at once.
