EFTA - European Free Trade Association was signed in 1960, and historically, it was the first regional Free Trade bloc in Europe, but when the EU became the dominant trade bloc after its establishment, then some EFTA members left EFTA to become members in the EU (e.g. Portugal, Sweden and UK), so currently, EFTA includes only four European countries yet with the prospect to expand it by European microstates.
